Tussar (also Tasar or Kosa) silk is generated by the silkworm belonging to the moth genus\u00a0Antheraea, <\/em>which mainly thrive on the food plants Asan and Arjun, and not on Mulberry. The rearing are conducted in nature on the trees in the open. The cocoons are boiled and softened and then the silk yarn is extracted from them. The silk yarn is extracted mostly by rural and tribal women from the East of India, primarily Bihar and Jharkhand. The resulting yarn is a short and porous fibre with a naturally golden hue. This not only gives it a rich texture and a natural gold colour, but the breathable material also is comfortable to wear in warmer temperatures.<\/span><\/p>\n
