Garuda, as per Indian mythology, is the divine bird, celestial being and is also the 'Vahana' or vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is known to travel to his abode, the 'Vaikunth' mounting on Garuda.

Mention of Garuda is also found in many South East Asian countries. Garuda represents the royal.

Nothing has been missed in this stone statue. The clothes, ornaments, the snake as well the the wings are beautifully carved on the stone. It requires high level of skills. The back of the statue has carving as well.

This statue is carved out of the natural pink stone found in Odisha. The different colour shades found on the statue are the natural colour shades of the stone. Since it is hand carved , there could be some inaccuracies, lack of symmetry and proportion, irregularities, and other aspects of human limitations.
