Hand-painted pattachitra saree on yellow pure dupian silk base with 'Rajo festival' Theme. Comes with blouse piece with same combination. Total length 6.3 meters. Rajo is the festival of 'Mother earth'. During Raja, farmers pay respect to the mother earth by halting all agricultural activities and letting the earth rest. Traditionally young girls and women folks take rest as well, which is symbolic. It is a time of relaxation and celebration.
Since
the saree is hand painted using colours and brush, there could be
some inaccuracies, lack of symmetry and proportion, colour mismatch or
irregularities, and other aspects of human limitations.
Care: Dry Clean only. Press on the reverse using steam press (do not press on the paintings).

Pattachitra
is one of the distinct form of traditional hand-painting in Odisha ,which have
been continuously in existence for almost 800 years. The themes and motifs of
Pattachitra center around Lord Jagannath and the Vaishnava cult, mainly taken
from the epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. Sometimes the themes are also
based on folklores and regional festivals.
In
modern times this amazing art of Pattachitra has been kept alive by the
traditional Painter-community known as "Chitrakaras” who live in and around
Raghurajpur village of Puri district in Odisha.
Wearing
this saree is equivalent to wearing a piece of art on you. An extremely elegant
piece suitable for women of all age.
